Sliders
- 12 slider buns
- 8 ounces sliced provolone cheese
- 8 ounces crispy prosciutto
- Fresh arugula or spinach (optional)
Butter Herb Mixture
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs (such as oregano or basil)
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
- Assemble Bottom Buns: Cut the slider buns in half horizontally and place the bottom halves evenly in the baking dish.
- Layer Cheese: Evenly layer slices of provolone cheese over the bottom halves of the buns.
- Add Prosciutto and Greens: Place slices of crispy prosciutto on top of the cheese layer, adding fresh arugula or spinach if desired for extra freshness and crunch.
- Add More Cheese: Add another layer of provolone cheese over the prosciutto and greens.
- Top with Buns: Place the top halves of the slider buns over the layered fillings.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, and black pepper until well combined.
- Brush Buns: Generously brush the butter and herb mixture over the tops of the slider buns to add flavor and promote browning.
- Cover with Foil: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to keep moisture in during baking, ensuring soft buns and melted cheese.
- Bake: Bake the sliders in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese melts and the buns become golden brown on top.
- Serve Warm: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve the sliders warm for best taste and texture.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can briefly broil the sliders uncovered for 1-2 minutes after baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Substitute provolone with mozzarella or Swiss cheese for a different flavor profile.
- Add a spread of Dijon mustard or mayonnaise on the buns before assembling for added tang.
- To make assembly easier, prepare all ingredients beforehand and keep them close by.
- These sliders can be made a few hours ahead and reheated covered in the oven at 300°F for 10 minutes.
